At 17 feet long with a 1,000 lb carrying capacity, the Prospecteur 17 has the room to haul food, camping gear and expedition supplies without sacrificing control on the water. Its rounded hull shape provides excellent stability and predictable handling, while 3.5 inches of rocker at the bow and stern gives the canoe the maneuverability needed for moving water and whitewater.

Despite its size, the Prospecteur 17 remains responsive and surprisingly nimble. It tracks efficiently across lakes and long flatwater sections, yet still turns confidently when rivers tighten up or conditions become more technical.

Built from rugged T-Formex, it is designed to handle the impacts, abrasion and repeated use that come with remote travel. Webbed seats, vinyl gunwales and a contoured yoke and thwart come standard, with optional wood gunwales available for paddlers who prefer a more traditional finish.

At Wilderness Supply, we work hard to keep canoe pricing fair and predictable. Canoe prices are either listed at the manufacturer’s MSRP or include a small portion of the freight cost to one of our retail locations, with the rest covered by us. That means in-stock canoes and boats pre-ordered on our regular bulk shipments don’t incur surprise shipping fees.

Canoes ordered outside our bulk shipment windows may incur additional freight charges to our retail store locations. We will always discuss and confirm that with you in advance.
